About the Sri Pathe Thillaiampalam Legacy Project
The Sri Pathe Thillaiampalam Legacy Project was established on April 21, 2020 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Mr. Thillaiampalam was a global leader and influencer who lived a life of always wanting to help others, whether it was making an introduction to people, enabling opportunities or education, or helping someone to find refuge in a new country, he always said he gained joy by seeing others succeed. He passed away on April 21, 2020.
Mr. Thillaiampalam’s last wish, which he made public to a few of his relatives and friends in February - March 2020, was to build 1 elder unit at Moolai Co-Operative Hospital (MCH) in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in the name of his parents Sivaramalingam & Annammah Thillaiampalam. With this wish in mind, his daughter, Menaka Thillaiampalam, established The Sri Pathe Thillaiampalam Legacy Project to raise donations to build 1 unit following his passing. However, due to Mr. Thillaiampalam’s global impact and influence, enough funds were collected through this campaign to build 3 units.
With Visions Global Empowerment serving as the fiscal sponsor of the Sri Pathe Thillaiampalam Legacy Project, an Agreement between Visions and MCH was executed in July 2020 and work began on August 2, 2020 following a foundation laying ceremony. Scheduled completion of these 3 new elder care units is set for December 2020, after which this Legacy Project will continue to partner with MCH and other organizations in Sri Lanka to help improve the lives of vulnerable people in local communities.
Aside from establishing the 3 new elder care units, Visions agreed to conduct a 12-week virtual leadership training course for dozens of hospital staff to help build their capacity, which began in June 2020. A smart TV and microphone have been provided to the hospital as well for this purpose.
